Summer Showcase-What a Party!
Congratulations to all the performers, students and teachers alike. Emcee for the evening was Frank Regan and judge Vicki Regan, his partner in winning multiple national ten dance championships. Both were featured in a recent book Ballroom Icons among a few dozen singled out as the greats of Ballroom Dance. We are proud to have them at ADI.
After the showcase, the party began. Good food and drink, good music and good company! Everyone loved seeing the 1980s Dance TV show starring Gary and Vicki. Gary's curly black hair surprised some, but Vicki looked much the same. We danced until 11:30PM with a mix that ranged from samba, to Viennese Waltz, and ended up with freestyle to Michael Jackson hits. Everyone had great moves and Reynaldo did a solo Jackson routine that we have to see again! Be sure to join us for the Fall Showcase October 3.

So you think YOU can dance?? We can!
Are you watching the current So You Think You Can Dance? We have a special interest in the show....Contestant Karla Garcia, whose mother lives nearby, had some Cha-Cha lessons with our Reynaldo Perez. We thought her Cha-Cha looked very good and we could see his influence. Karla is progressing well. Last night she and her partner did a Quickstep choreographed by Jean Marc Genereau, a famous ballroom figure!
Join us as we continue cheering her on during our studio's Thursday night practice parties and hope to see much more of her as she fights for the top spot! Good luck, Karla!!!

ADI's new Indian Dance classes
ADI and Lori Clark offer a Northern Indian Kathak class aimed at using the technique to perform classically based Hindi film dances. Immediately following this class, Lori will work with a performance group on Bollywood choreography, popular Hindi choreography based on classical or folk dance and possibly some Arabic elements.
These classes will be taught on Sundays starting July 12, 2009 with Kathak running from 5:30 - 6:45 PM and Bollywood from 6:45 - 8:15 PM. Our special price for Kathak/Mujra is $16, and those who are invited by Lori to stay and practice with her company can take the Bollywood class for $8. These classes are for teens and adults. We are, however, creating a waiting list for a children's class at a later time. Come and join us to explore the Indian culture so popular today in novels and film...or express your Indian heritage!
USISTD National American Rhythm Symposium
The National American Rhythm Symposium will be conducted this year by Frank Regan. You are invited to invest in your future by improving your teaching and understanding of American Rhythm Dances at the behest of the Imperial Educational Program. Documentation of the completion of the symposium will be available to all attendees in the form of an attendance certificate.
Topics include: Understanding Latin Music; Dance History - Spatial Dynamics and Kinesthetics of Latin Dance; Authentic Styles of the original Mambo, Bolero, Rumba, Son Montuno, West Coast Lindy, and Lindy Hop.
Tuition: $125 per person. $95 for USISTD members
The National Theater Arts Symposium
The National Theater Arts Symposium will be hosted by Frank Regan with special guest World Champion Sharon Savoy. This particular workshop follows a similar format to the Saturday American Rhythm Symposium. We do, however, emphasize that this is an educational symposium open to anyone. We accordingly welcome members of the amateur dance community who wish to expand their knowledge of this subject.
Tuition: $125 per person. $95 for Imperial Members.
