Nutcracker Receives Rave Review!
The Alexandria Ballet's Nutcracker has been getting great coverage in local and regional sources, in print and online. Here is what Alexandrianews.org reported earlier this week:
"For 17 years, the children of The Alexandria Ballet, along with a complement of adult professional dancers have delighted audiences with performances of The Nutcracker. This year’s performance opened on Saturday to rave reviews.
'It’s such a wonderful idea to be able to expose young children to ballet in such a family-friendly environment,' said Jennifer Atkins, who attended Sunday’s performance with her daughter Maggie.
For 55 minutes, children can surround the stage and thrill to the antics of the Prince, the villainous Mouse King and the magical Sugar-Plum Fairy."

The Alexandria Ballet Nutcracker
An Alexandria tradition, Virginia Britton's adaptation of The Nutcracker creates magic!
The performance presents a 55 minute Nutcracker highlighting Tchaikovsky's classic Nutcracker score. In a beautiful, intimate setting, your child is seated at stage edge just a few feet from professional and student dancers. Unlike traditional Nutcrackers, here your child boos the Mouse King, oohs over Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy, and claps for the Prince. This is appropriate for children ages 3-7, but guaranteed to delight older siblings, parents, and grandparents alike. Following the performance dancers come out to greet your child, give them a candy cane, and pose for treasured photos.
All tickets are $20 dollars and are general seating. Call 703-354-6000 to arrange discounts for groups of 20 or more.

Performances are held at the Alliance Dance Institute in the Landmark Mall, 2nd level. Park on 2nd level covered parking at Row M. We are just inside the Landmark Mall entrance. Come directly to the adjacent Nutcracker Shop for will call, coat check and to enjoy refreshments and Nutcracker related items until the group is escorted to the theater. Birthday parties can be arranged in this space before or after the performance.
